------------------------------------------------------------------------------ PACKAGE : syslog-ng VERSION : 2.1 SUMMARY : syslog-ng PE 2.1 end of support on December 31, 2009 DATE : April 22, 2009 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ DESCRIPTION: The support for syslog-ng Premium Edition 2.1 ends on December 31, 2009. Updates, security fixes, and technical support of syslog-ng 2.1 will be discontinued at this date. This announcement applies to syslog-ng PE and the syslog-ng Agent for Windows alike. You are recommended to upgrade to syslog-ng 3.0 before the support for version 2.1 ends. UPGRADING: For details on upgrading to syslog-ng 3.0, see What is new in syslog-ng Premium Edition 3.0 (available at http://www.balabit.com/dl/guides/syslog-ng-v3.0-guide-whatsnew-en.pdf) especially the Upgrading and the Important changes sections. In order to upgrade to syslog-ng Premium Edition 3.0, login to your MyBalabit account at http://www.balabit.com/mybalabit/ and download the new license file and the binary packages. After that, follow the installation procedure described in Chapter 4, Installing syslog-ng in The syslog-ng 3.0 Administrator Guide (available at http://www.balabit.com/support/documentation/) The installer will automatically recognize earlier installations of syslog-ng, and offer to re-use the syslog-ng configuration file and the license. It will also display warnings about parameters and the format of the configuration file that have changed since version 2.1. For latest fixes in the 3.0.x branch you are recommended to upgrade to this version. CHANGES: 3.0.2a Sun, 29 Mar 2009 20:05:46 +0200 Bugfixes: * Fixed TZOFFSET macro expansion problem which resulted in -00:00 as timezone value if no explicit timezone conversion was specified. * Zero sized UDP datagrams were interpreted as end-of-file and the listener was incorrectly closed, causing all further syslog messages to be dropped. This behavior was fixed. * If the kernel lacked inotify support, syslog-ng did not fall back to poll-based file monitoring properly on Linux. Affects RHEL4 and earlier. This behavior was fixed. * Fixed the default value for follow-freq(); in 3.0.2 the default value was incorrectly set to 1msec instead of 1sec. Earlier versions in the 3.0 branch were behaving correctly.
