These tests which are in the "syslog-ng-ose/tests" directory are run every time when we release a new version. To see the importent differences between OSE and PE see the next pages: http://www.balabit.com/network-security/syslog-ng/features/ http://www.balabit.com/network-security/syslog-ng/comparing/detailed/ For example, PE supports disk buffering, wildcard in file name, sending logs from a windows host and so on. For more details, contact our sales as I suggest you, please (basically, this is a technical list). Janani Janakiraman írta:
Appreciate your reply. I do see some tests in the syslog-ng source and wanted to find out if there is any other test suite that is run against the builds. Since there is a paid version and an open source version, I wanted to find out what benefit I get by going to the paid version.

Re: [syslog-ng] What testing has been done for the new features in open source version of syslog-ng version 3.x
Hi Janani,
I am sorry, but I don't really understand you. Nevertheless, I am trying to answer you. First of all, what kind of tests have you thought? Of course, we have tested the syslog protocol of the syslog-ng and it worked. If you have any question about this protocol, or found a bug, don't hesitate to tell us it.
Also, we have installer packages for the following platforms, as you can see: _debian-etch-amd64_ <http://www.balabit.hu/downloads/files/syslog-ng/sources/3.0.5/setups/debian-etch-amd64/> Directory 2009-12-07 _debian-etch-i386_ <http://www.balabit.hu/downloads/files/syslog-ng/sources/3.0.5/setups/debian-etch-i386/> Directory 2009-12-07 _freebsd-6.1-i386_ <http://www.balabit.hu/downloads/files/syslog-ng/sources/3.0.5/setups/freebsd-6.1-i386/> Directory 2009-12-07 _linux-amd64_ <http://www.balabit.hu/downloads/files/syslog-ng/sources/3.0.5/setups/linux-amd64/> Directory 2009-12-07 _linux-i386_ <http://www.balabit.hu/downloads/files/syslog-ng/sources/3.0.5/setups/linux-i386/> Directory 2009-12-07 _rhel-4-amd64_ <http://www.balabit.hu/downloads/files/syslog-ng/sources/3.0.5/setups/rhel-4-amd64/> Directory 2009-12-07 _rhel-4-i386_ <http://www.balabit.hu/downloads/files/syslog-ng/sources/3.0.5/setups/rhel-4-i386/> Directory 2009-12-07 _rhel-5-amd64_ <http://www.balabit.hu/downloads/files/syslog-ng/sources/3.0.5/setups/rhel-5-amd64/> Directory 2009-12-07 _rhel-5-i386_ <http://www.balabit.hu/downloads/files/syslog-ng/sources/3.0.5/setups/rhel-5-i386/> Directory 2009-12-07 _suse-10-i386_ <http://www.balabit.hu/downloads/files/syslog-ng/sources/3.0.5/setups/suse-10-i386/> Directory 2009-12-07
This is just a list from our website (_http://www.balabit.com/downloads/files/syslog-ng/sources/3.0.5/setups/_). Also, you can download the source code of syslog-ng and try to compile for your platform by manual.

I am trying to judge the level of confidence for the latest stable open-source version of syslog-ng version 3.0.5. Where can I find the test results of the tests that have been run again version 3.0.5 of syslog-ng? I want to find out if tests have been run to test the new features in Version 3.x specifically support for the new IETF-syslog protocol standard ( RFC5424 ). Do any of the major Linux distros support version 3.x of syslog-ng?
Thanks, Janani
