[syslog-ng]Can someone clarify the log_fifo_size option?

Can someone please clarify what the log_fifo_size option does within the file() option for me please? I don't understand the docs, nor how to use it: log_fifo_size() number The number of entries in the output fifo. Use global setting. What is the "output fifo"? Thanks! Eric
