My humble apologies!  The patch does resolve the HTTP proxy SIGSEGV
problem, but only if I actually apply the patch.  *blush*

I planned to test 2.1.7 with python2.1 today, and while patching the
configure file for support for having multiple versions of python
installed, I noticed that I wasn't actually applying the patch you sent
yesterday.

Sorry for the time that my oversight cost you.
