Hi, in the past we did not have feature owners, so we don't have any experiences. This is actually a new role that I want to initiate to our GSoC projects (and later I want to share the experiences with Google). Feature owners are those community members who are highly interested in a specific feature so they can represents the users. Of course they can also check the code :) I think FOs will also keep an eye on the GSoC release timeline.
