Anyone Going to Cisco Live/Networkers in Las Vegas next week?
Hey everyone, If any of you are attending the Cisco Live conference in Las Vegas next week and are interested in learning more about building scalable syslog management solutions, please feel free to sign up for my session: BRKNMS-2031. I will be covering step-by-step instructions on how to set up a system using syslog-ng. If you can't make the session, there is also a Lunch/Table topic you can sign up for just to pick my brain (what little there is, heh). See you there! ______________________________________________________________ Clayton Dukes ______________________________________________________________

I guess the conference is over, could you please summarize your experiences? I, for one, am very curious :) Thanks. -- Bazsi
Hey Baszi, Yes, the conference is over. It went very well. Since I am a speaker at the conference, it's difficult for me to give my opinion as a "user", but I can tell you there were over 14,000 attendees and 35,000 virtual attendees (they do it online as well). They also have a 'customer appreciation' event every year and this year's event was pretty amazing. I've been at Networkers (now called Cisco Live) for about 10 years - 5 of them as a speaker and this event was one of the best I've ever seen. Balabit might actually want to consider participating as a vendor in one of these events (there's one in London next Feb. as well). There were 300 people in my session, about 85% of them already use syslog-ng - the other 15% will likely be using now because of the session. If you guys want more info on that, feel free to email me off list and I can put you in touch with the Cisco Live staff. It would be nice to see another syslog company out there other than Clunk :-) ______________________________________________________________ Clayton Dukes ______________________________________________________________ On Wed, Jul 20, 2011 at 6:57 AM, Balazs Scheidler <bazsi@balabit.hu> wrote:

It must have been a cool occassion, 300 attendees is quite nice number, especially as I guess there were parallel tracks. Are you slides available somewhere?

Thanks for the information. I'm forwarding the email to our marketing guys for their consideration. -- Bazsi
Unfortunately, I am only allowed to share my slides with registered attendees (Cisco's rules, not mine). I can tell you that the session is loosely based on my whitepaper at http://www.cisco.com/en/US/technologies/collateral/tk869/tk769/white_paper_c... The additional parts are a case study and an actual walk-through on installing syslog-ng and LZ. ______________________________________________________________ Clayton Dukes ______________________________________________________________ On Wed, Jul 20, 2011 at 9:26 AM, Balazs Scheidler <bazsi@balabit.hu> wrote:

Thanks for the information. The white paper is definitely worth a read. -- Bazsi
