It'd be great if someone was willing to invest some time into getting the official Debian package up to date. Currently it is removed from "testing" and would not be part of the next release: https://tracker.debian.org/pkg/syslog-ng -m
Hi, I totally agree with you... but this is not something we could solve without Debian maintainers and active support from our community, or, in other words: this is not our decision. If you -or any member of the community- can help us to go back to Debian, we are going to support your work. One of the main reason I'm working on 'unofficial' packages is that newest syslog-ng is not part of Debian/Ubuntu... Note that these unofficial packages is my own private playground, for myself (yes, I'm using syslog-ng on my machines...), maybe totally useless for you, but why not to share with community? L. Hey László, Thanks for your work. I wasn't trying to diminish what you have done or what you are sharing with the community. Thank you! On Thu, Aug 9, 2018 at 10:06 AM, Budai, László <laszlo.budai@oneidentity.com

I wasn't sure if there was anyone from the syslog-ng users community who might have time to get the Debian package in shape. I was only bringing it to light for others.
If you -or any member of the community- can help us to go back to Debian, we are going to support your work.
Thanks!

I will fix that as part of an NMU shortly. I'll see how the original maintainers react. -- The difference between the right word and the almost right word is the difference between lightning and the lightning bug. -- Mark Twain
