syslog -> syslog-ng
If I install syslog-ng as a log server can I have the original syslog mechinisam from all of my other boxes send to the syslog-ng server? Will it map the same, are there any modifications I need to make to the other syslog conf? Will I need to install syslog-ng on all boxes? Thanks, Bill
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi, I'm running various Solaris and Linux boxes with their original syslog and log centrally on a Solaris box with syslog-ng. It works and I'm happy. For logging with the Solaris syslogd see also the thread "replacing part of prog name with hostname". Looks like Solaris syslogd has some quirks concerning the host name in some installations.
