Do not use those links to download directly but just try to follow the steps provided and let dnf command to do the right work for you. Claudio Il 2025-03-27 15:14 Linn, William ha scritto:

Try one of these 2 options:
1. syslog-ng version 3.35.1 (older)
subscription-manager repos --enable codeready-builder-for-rhel-9-$(arch)-rpms
dnf install https://dl.fedoraproject.org/pub/epel/epel-release-latest-9.noarch.rpm [13]
dnf repolist # show repositories
dnf search syslog-ng
dnf install syslog-ng # confirm with a y to start installation, then another y to accept the GPG key
syslog-ng is now installed and enabled to auto-start at boot time but not started yet.
2. syslog-ng version 4.8.1 (current)
source: https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/czanik/syslog-ng48/ [14]
This is the latest stable version of syslog-ng.
cd /etc/yum.repos.d/
wget https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/czanik/syslog-ng48/repo/epel-9/czani... [15]
dnf repolist # show repositories
dnf search syslog-ng
dnf install syslog-ng # confirm with a y to start installation, then another y to accept the GPG key
dnf install syslog-ng-bpf* # Optional module recommended to leverage the eBPF support
dnf install syslog-ng-http* # Optional modules recommended to leverage the HTTP support
syslog-ng is now installed and enabled to auto-start at boot time but not started yet.
Let me know if it helps.
Ciao.

Peter,
The error I got was. warning: /tmp/syslog-ng-4.8.1-2.fc40.src.rpm: Header V4 RSA/SHA256 Signature, key ID bb1105ce: NOKEY
I had downloaded it from the site, cannot remember exactly as it was done a couple of months ago preparing to upgrade the current version from 4.X. We are on RHEL 7 and upgrading the environment to RHEL 9. I do notice that the older version is.... syslog-ng-3.5.6-3.el7.x86_64.rpm and what I downloaded is syslog-ng-4.8.1-2.fc40.src.rpm maybe I have a source that needs compiled?
Thanks William
