I would recommend *only* when its a bind address that setsockopt(MULTICAST_BLAH) is called...
to clarify binding wise you need to call ADD_MEMBERSHIP but TTL has no net effect. For sending the data to a multicast address ADD_MEMBERSHIP should not be used whilst the TTL functionality is pretty much critical to the whole thing. Cheers Alex
