On Solaris 8 and Solaris 9, I have problems with syslog-ng mysteriously dying because of door problems. This setup has worked well for over a year and is cropping up randomly.
The symptom is su - hangs. I can shut syslog-ng down and start syslog and everything is fine. I've tried bringing a syslog-ng daemon and conf file from a working server over and the problem still exists.
Weird, I haven't seen this, I've had syslog-ng on all my solaris boxes (including 9) for a couple years. I do log in directly as root though, using ssh authentication. -- Nate
