I can just make a soft link from /var/run/syslogd.pid to /var/run/syslogd-ng.pid!!!
This is an even neater solution.
/var/run is usually emptied upon reboot on UNIX, either by scripts or by virtue of it being a memory-based fs on some. -- Nate Campi http://www.campin.net
