I was just thinking if you have any plans to implement something along the lines of a memory-based ringbuffer into Syslog-NG. To me it sounds like a useful feature.
Here the reference to the functionality in BSD: http://www.openbsd.org/cgi-bin/man.cgi?query=syslogc&sektion=8
One alternative possibility that I am aware of would be to use this kernel module: http://www.circlemud.org/~jelson/software/emlog/
But I still think that from a manageability point of view it might be easier to have this functionality in the syslog daemon. Having it there also reduces the number of copying around the same information.
interesting idea, though the feature is primarily meant for diskless clients where no local storage exists. what is the point for central log servers? (where syslog-ng is primarily used) -- Bazsi PGP info: KeyID 9AF8D0A9 Fingerprint CD27 CFB0 802C 0944 9CFD 804E C82C 8EB1
