Hi, The syslog-ng doesn't use these logs by default. You can remove these but most of them will be recreated by another programs and you may experience unexpected behavior of your programs. explanation about logs: /var/log/lastlog, /var/log/wtmp used by login program /var/log/dmesg used by kernel and of course the Google is a very powerful tool to understand it Before you remove these, you should create a backup! If one has set up a dedicated syslog-ng configuration and wants to remove files like those, what would happen? Can anyone list the software entities responsible for writing to those? Has anyone configured a system, which doesn't needs them? ______________________________________________________________________________ Member info: https://lists.balabit.hu/mailman/listinfo/syslog-ng Documentation: http://www.balabit.com/support/documentation/?product=syslog-ng FAQ: http://www.campin.net/syslog-ng/faq.html
