One of the main reason I'm working on 'unofficial' packages is that newest syslog-ng is not part of Debian/Ubuntu... Note that these unofficial packages is my own private playground, for myself (yes, I'm using syslog-ng on my machines...), maybe totally useless for you, but why not to share with community?
