Thanks Janos for opening it on Github!

@Fabien can your please describe your use-cases on github too?
I don't feel good to just copy your answer to the github page. I don't like to copy anyone's answer, even though it's a public mail list. 🙂
Can you also describe a bit in detail "out-of-persist file sources" feature, please?

files or out-of-persist file sources), but also one-shot file parsing, and
tcpdump-like debugging.

Thanks Fabien for your feedback on this!
I have opened an issue asking for this feature: https://github.com/balabit/syslog-ng/issues/2864<https://nam05.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fgithub.com%2Fbalabit%2Fsyslog-ng%2Fissues%2F2864&data=02%7C01%7Cgabor.nagy%40oneidentity.com%7C5da78573860d475c89e608d71a5ec3ee%7C91c369b51c9e439c989c1867ec606603%7C0%7C0%7C637006866658910783&sdata=gWRdvUMFTUcjL0ql2cNXLOJKkuGuEuW%2BMpZYsttQhHM%3D&reserved=0>

I totally agree with you.
My personal use-cases would include your own (ad-hoc handling of disq
files or out-of-persist file sources), but also one-shot file parsing, and
tcpdump-like debugging.
