Summary: Feature request – Linux /dev/kmsg support
           Product: syslog-ng
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: PC
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: NEW
          Severity: minor
          Priority: unspecified
         Component: syslog-ng
        AssignedTo: bazsi at balabit.hu
        ReportedBy: grawity at gmail.com
Type of the Report: enhancement
   Estimated Hours: 0.0

Starting with Linux 3.5 (commits [1], [2]), there is a new kmsg interface "/dev/kmsg", which allows multiple readers, is able to export some structured data
(such as device name and subsystem), avoids some other problems /proc/kmsg had, such as the ones described in syslog-ng's FAQ [3].

Are there any plans to support this in syslog-ng?

The format is explained in Documentation/ABI/testing/dev-kmsg.txt [4].
