I prepared a patch (https://github.com/balabit/syslog-ng/commit/0e68eb8d265481716171c73adbda2dd248710571.patch) to address this issue, and submitted a pull
request to Bazsi. I plan to add the same change to the 3.5 (and possibly 3.4) branch too.
