Hmmm.. is it running under cygwin?

This error message explains nothing about the root cause of the crash.
It merely tells you that it couldn't allocate more memory.

Either because of a genuine memory leak or it really needs this much
memory.

What is the RSS of the syslog-ng process?

Can you tell us your syslog-ng version?
