Might be interesting to test it anyway just by replacing the file with a
named pipe. I know I've been piping Apache combined logs and MySQL logs
to named pipes for months now and Apache/MySQL have no clue whatsoever
they're not writing to real actual files. So maybe your application
will be fooled as well.
As for the throughput you'll get, I'm not even close to your target.
