Redhat ES3 uses an appropriate glib2 library from Redhat.

Please make sure that you have both of these.

glib2
glib2-devel

Our Redhat AS3 has the following libs

glib2-2.2.3-2.0
glib2-devel-2.2.3-2.0

and our build script looks like;

env CFLAGS="-march=pentium4 -O2" PKG_CONFIG_PATH=/usr/local/lib/pkgconfig ./configure --enable-static-linking 
--enable-tcp-wrapper=no

Works for us.
