Well, today the heka was deprecated. In my example, we have a project that has used the heka to pre-process the logs received from nginx/haproxy and other internal software.

Basically, Many Lua scripts removing fields, resolving geoip address, some math process, and other things.

p.s: I know that we can use the syslog-ng filters, but our platform is more complex than I can explain. unfortunately, we should use the heka for a while. A pity that it no longer supports the Lua.

Well, lua has not been part of an official release, but was developed independently, and probably not maintained anymore.

Can you show a specific usecase where syslog-ng could replace heka?

Hi,

syslog-ng 3.9.x & mod-lua is deprecated? btw, is it possible to enable the mod-lua in the 3.9.x? I am asking because using Lua is more easy to port the Lua scripts/decoder/encoders from the heka to syslog-ng.
