Hi,

If only the packaging conflict is the problem but v3.11 itself works then you could manually install syslog-ng using dpkg and use the --force-overwrite flag (or when installing syslog-ng-core later than syslog-ng, I haven't checked the packaging to see which package the file should actually belong to). Of course there could be an issue when the packaging gets fixed and in the next version the other package tries to reclaim the file. Kind of annoying, using the Replaces control field could help cleaning up such conflicts.

Regards,

Sandor

The Only thing I could do to get it working was to force v3.10.1-1:

# apt-get install syslog-ng=3.10.1-1

The following NEW packages will be installed:

  syslog-ng

0 upgraded, 1 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.

Need to get 6,112 B of archives.

After this operation, 29.7 kB of additional disk space will be used.

Get:1 http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/laszlo_budai:/syslog-ng/xUbuntu_14.04/ ./ syslog-ng 3.10.1-1 [6,112 B]
