Hi Frank,

Syslog-ng uses libcurl for the http destination (which handles the slack destination).

A snippet from libcurl-tutorial(3), Proxies/Environment Variables section:
libcurl automatically checks and uses a set of environment variables to know what proxies to use for certain protocols. The names of the variables are following an ancient de facto standard and are built up as "[protocol]_proxy" (note the lower casing). Which makes the variable 'http_proxy' checked for a name of a proxy to use when the input URL is HTTP.

I believe http_proxy and https_proxy environment variables are the way to go.

But on Linux systems there is no standard way of defining proxy settings, so does it follow the environment variables (http_proxy, https_proxy, etc) or whereever NetworkManager writes it, or where? As well, note this is a server, not a workstation, so it isn't automatically setup for a proxy.

We have recently upgraded to syslog-ng v3.19 so we can use the slack hook, but have an issue that to access the URL we will need to go through a squid web proxy.

How do we configure the details of the proxy in either syslog-ng or in the slack destination?
