For latest fixes in the 3.0.x branch you are recommended to upgrade to this version. CHANGES: Core: * It is possible to specify the configuration of the agent in an XML file when installing the agent, and also when starting the agent. See the documentation of the agent in the upcoming version of The syslog-ng 3.0 Administrator Guide for details on the format of the XML file. * If the agent loses the connection to the logserver and the reconnection fails, it will send an eventlog message only once in every ten minutes. The successful reconnection attempt is also logged. * Decreased the load caused by the agent on Windows 2008 and 2003 systems. * In some situations, the agent did not properly start because of a deadlock. This has been corrected. * When starting the agent in service mode, command-line parameters were not processed correctly. This has been corrected. * Trying to register the syslog-ng agent service from the command line failed in some cases if the path to the syslog-ng-agent.exe file contained whitespace characters. This has been corrected. Eventlog sources: * If a log file is corrupt, the agent will stop processing the event source. A log message is sent directly to the logserver to notify about the error ('Eventlog file is corrupt'). Configuration snap-in: * The Previous Settings and Next Settings buttons were not functioning properly and have been disabled. Packaging: * Installing the agent from a domain controller using the .msi installer failed in certain situations. This has been corrected. * The .msi installer does not install the MMC configuration snap-in of the agent, therefore does not require .NET to be installed on the clients. * Uninstalling the agent on 64-bit systems did not correctly remove every file. This has been corrected. HOW TO UPGRADE * When upgrading a machine running version 3.0.3 in standalone mode, run the .exe installer and verify that the displayed information is correct. * When upgrading a machine running version 3.0.3 in domain mode, follow the steps described in section 'Installing the syslog-ng agent on the hosts of a domain' of the documentation. The system will automatically recognize that the new package will update the syslog-ng Agent for Windows version 3.0.4 package.
