Take a look at my php-syslog-ng package, there's a script in
scripts/dbgen.pl that you could probably start with.

I am currently using the php-syslog-ng but am in need to find a way to
take a local file and "inject" it into the local database.  If
php-syslog-ng can do this I have missed it and would be appreciative if
you could point that out to me.
